What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique that reduces stress and also promotes relaxation and healing. When a persons life force energy, sometimes called Ki, Qi, or prana, is not balanced it can manifest physically, mentally, and emotionally. Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that can be used on anyone. It can be used in conjunction with all other medical and therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
How does it work?
Reiki is administered by laying hands on a person and using Reiki energy to remove negative energy and restore balance to one’s life force energy.
What are the benefits of Reiki?
Some of the benefits of Reiki are stress and anxiety reduction, pain relief, improved sleep, enhanced emotional well being, increased energy levels, improved focus and concentration, and spiritual growth.
What does it feel like?
How Reiki feels can vary person to person. Some common sensations are deep relaxation and calm similar to meditation. A sense of warmth or coolness especially where the practitioners hands are placed is also common. Some experience a tingling or buzzing sensation as if energy is running through their body. Some people also experience an emotional release, increased energy, reduced pain, and an overall sense of well being. It’s also possible to not feel anything at all, and that is completely normal and doesn’t mean the Reiki isn’t working.
Can Reiki harm you?
No. Reiki cannot cause harm. Reiki works with a persons higher self and is guided to the areas of the body that need it. Reiki should not be used in place of medical or mental health care. Reiki is great when used on top of medical or mental health treatments.
How often should I get Reiki treatments?
You can receive Reiki treatments as often as you would like. I generally recommend starting with at least 3 to 5 sessions spaced 1 week apart. Some issues may require more sessions. Your individual treatment plan will be based on your goals.
How should I prepare for my Reiki session?
In-person: On the day of your session please wear comfortable clothing as the sessions are done fully clothed. Since I come to you please have a space ready where I can set up a massage table and that will be quiet and peaceful.
Distance healing: On the day of your appointment you will want to wear comfortable clothing. Find a place that you can lay comfortably with little to no interruptions. You may choose to light candles, have aromatherapy, or soft relaxing music. Whatever you need to be comfortable and relaxed during your session.
